National Service Scheme

It is popularly known as ‘NSS’, launched on 24 Sept. 1969 during Gandhiji’s Centenary year. This scheme is under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and NSS cell, Higher and technical education, Govt. of Maharashtra.

Principle of NSS

To develop a sense of involvement in the task of National development organized by the students themselves. Personality Development of students through community service.

Objectives

• • To enable the students to understand the community in which they work
• • To understand themselves in relation to their community ;
• • To identify the needs and problems in the community in the solution of which they can be involved;
• • To develop among themselves a sense of social and civil responsibility;
• • To apply their education in finding practical solution to individual and community problems ;
• • To develop competence required for group living and sharing responsibilities;
• • To gain skills in mobilizing community participation ;
• • To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude ;
• • To develop capacity to meet emergencies and national disasters ; and
• • To practice national integration.

Obligation of NSS Volunteers

Along with the regular studies, volunteers continuously work for two years. There by working for 120 hours in each year as well as participate in one special camping program.

Pride of NSS Volunteers

N.S.S. Badge and N. S. S. Certificate which will stand volunteers in good stand for future career.

After attending the 240 hrs. of N. S. S. Activity and one Special Camp at the final year TEN additional Marks will be given. (ordinance 0.163)

Program of NSS

N.S.S. Program is flexible with no rigidity. Any useful program in the light the need of the community and the occasion can be taken up in consultation with the University.
